Trump pushes immigration restrictions, emphasizes need for wall

Donald Trump has taken to Twitter to lash out at Mexico over his concerns about border protection. The President of the United States has emphasized a need to impose stricter immigration restraints.

Trump demonstrated his frustration over slow progress in Congress to pass legislation, indicating his desire to pass tough immigration laws as soon as possible.

“NO MORE DACA DEAL!” Donald Trump tweeted, in reference to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Created by former President Barack Obama, DACA provides temporary protection to immigrants bought into the U.S. illegally when they were children.

Trump ended the DACA deal last year, but seems to be frustrated at the slow progress of Congress enshrining it. The President believes that more and more immigrants are making their move to cross the border to reap the benefits of DACA.

The President has attacked Mexico’s lack of regulation on both people and drugs crossing the border. His group of tweets has demonstrated such frustration at the lack of action and support on Mexico’s side.

The President’s frustration with Mexico’s lack of border control with coupled with a threat to pull out of a free trade agreement with the bordering nation. Trump has been in negotiations with Canada and Mexico over the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), but these tweets see the President’s priority of stricter immigration regulations.

Trump’s Twitter backlash seems to be a response to the reports of 1,200 immigrants headed to the U.S. from Honduras. The President has made his opinion clear – no refuge will be offered for those who make the journey across the U.S. border.

His determination to stick to the strict immigration regulations he pushed in his Presidential campaign shows his lack of desire to consider opposing opinions. Trump has also emphasized the need to start constructing the wall on the Southern border.
